I love La Grolla and have been coming here for many years. Today's experience reminded me of why I love this restaurant so much. Some friends who had just gotten married were visiting Saint Paul and I wanted to make a special dinner for them to celebrate their new lives together. Though I had all kinds of good plans and had bought most of the ingredients, my work took me away and I had about two hours to put together a lovely and meaningful wedding celebration meal. I knew I would not have time to cook, but that I could make my tablescape lovely. What I didn't have time for was to cook! I remembered that I absolutely adore the champagne chicken dish at La Grolla and called to ask if I could pick up three orders of it. Marcella, who is wonderful, helped me tremendously. The food was packaged in a way that I could plate it up very nicely. They included bread and olive oil and grated cheese. It was spectacular! I had everything I needed. I told my friends what had happened and they were so happy to have this exquisite meal. I told them that I didn't make the food, but I made it possible! Thank you, La Grolla for saving the day!
Amazing dinner, with great plates of food at reasonable prices. Calamari, penne alla vodka were so good!
All of our food was delicious but our waitress really made this meal. Marcella was so wonderful. Cannot recommend La Grolla enough!
Hidden Gem! We used to come here almost every Sunday just to work our way through the entire menu. Every visit started with one (or two) baskets of their fresh bread, paired perfectly with olive oil and cracked black pepper. Our absolute favorites were the Tortellini, Ravioli, Barramundi, Pollo al Marsala, and Gnocchi Bolognese—those dishes never disappointed. While the rest of the menu is solid, a few items leaned a bit salty or lacked depth in flavor. The prices are very reasonable. Overall, though, this spot has been one of our go-to places for Italian food.
Prosciutto was found wanting from original dishes level, pretty sure was ham, would be happy if it was shaved-diced-fried/browned. Seafood is fantastic here, one of the few places you can trust for mussels etc in the state. Extremely cultured and take care of their people, well staffed. Only advice is to avoid party days and plan ahead. Definitely worthwhile a few times a year for hand made authentic Italian. (If you have more money go more, imagine sales meets on patio would be a great bet.)
Party of four, we visited here this weekend and enjoyed a nice dinner. It’s a nice older building, with validated off street parking available. Our service was good, not rushed to make a decision - and good with recommendations. Best to have a reservation - we were on the early side but it seemed to be picking up. We had several of the pasta entrees and one chicken Marsala. Crab cakes and beet salad for a starter. And a nice Italian red wine to split. Would definitely recommend if your local fora nice local not stuffy experience.
Really tasty food and wine In a cute spot with a great location. Nice central place to meet with friends. The lot next to the building is free and easy to park in - just make sure to verify your vehicle when you’re inside. Will check it out again
A party of 16 shared an excellent dinner and drinks last night (Dec. 16th). We could not have had a better experience. I wasn't sure how they would handle our large group, but we sat in the elevated parlor room just off the main room and it was perfect. I also want to give a really huge shout out to our waiter Paul. He was gracious, helpful and very attentive without being intrusive. Excellent job!!!! The food was wonderful too. Even if it had been 60 below outside it would have felt warm and toasty in this wonderful restaurant. Thank you all and Merry Christmas.
